Hohum… my week in great detail…
You know, I’ll just talk about a previous week. One in which something interesting happened.
So, my week started out uneventfully, on Monday we did a round of packing and cleaning, and pretty much got the master bedroom under control. For dinner we had Hamburger Helper that Our Girl cooked.
On Tuesday, while getting fishing poles out of the shed, my son discovered what was thought to be a honey bee hive living in our shed. He got stung 9 times, I made hamburgers for dinner; and worried about his stings…
On Wednesday, I had a horrible night and didn’t get to sleep until about 6. i woke up around 9. Yeah… I spent the day in my recliner playing on Facebook.
Thursday we began making plans for dealing with the bees and the plan for Redneck Bee Removal was set in place. I made tuna casserole and we had a fairly early night.
Friday was a fun day… it started with watering the plants, walking the dogs, and packing… again. Later in the afternoon, as the sun was setting – the bee removal began… trust me – if you haven't read the story you probably should.
Saturday, I listed the washer/dryer on Craigslist and did laundry all day. I mean all day. At 3am I put my last load in the dryer.
Sunday I spent doing even more laundry, so that we only had a load to do before… the washer/dryer was sold. I finished up what I needed to on laundry, and did an extra load of towels.
Monday we got up early and pulled out the appliances, sorted through 14 boxes of books for a yard sale, and I sat for several hours to play Xbox.
So that’s it – a week and a day, boring life? Yeah, not so much… what you don’t see here are the moments of each day…
The moments that I hear my teenagers in the other room laughing with each other.
The moments when my youngest calls and I hear my precious JJ yelling Hey! into the phone.
The moments when I talk to my Aunt (newly divorced after 32 years…don’t even get me started) who 7 months ago was nearly bedridden; and she tells me that she’s thinking about moving to Tallahassee so she can be near her high school sweetheart with whom she’s recently reconnected. She’s feeling really good these days… and for that I thank God.
The moments when Little Man calls and says he’s having a great week, and his therapist confirms that he is indeed, having a great week!
The moments that I can avoid the sudden black cloud of the downward spiral that is Our Girls specialty… and I can diffuse the situation without either of us melting down.
Those very rare, and special moments when Our Guy decides to do what he’s told without question or attitude, and he does it really well.
The quiet moments, in the hour before dawn, when I stand in the back yard with my dog… and talk to God. Nothing like a prayer under cover of a canopy of stars, in a pink-blue sky.
There are many, many moments like this, that I cannot recall when asked, but that pass through my mind in the tough times, to remind me of the good times, and to let me know my Father is near, and watching.
